Organisers of the first Make It Marple event are hoping the craft/artisan market will become a regular fixture in the town's calendar.

Following the first successful event this month in The Railway car park  the organisers Jane Nketiah, Kala Walsh and Nancy Collantine are planning to hold the market from 11am to 3pm on the third Sunday of every month - the next one will be Sunday April 15.

Jane, who has her own dog accessories business Barkley & Fetch, said: "There is room for around 25 stalls and so far we have had a very good response from all kinds of craft/artisan businesses including ceramic makers, artists, vintage specialists, clothing makers, pies and artisan chocolate makers, wood carvers and more.

"I have been taking part in a similar market in Bollington for some time, which was set up by some ladies who wanted to bring craft and artisan producers together. Their organisation is non-profit making and any proceeds are put back into the community. We want the Marple market to work in a similar way.''

A number of posters and flyers have been placed around Marple to publicise the event.

After Jane had experienced the Bollington market, her fellow organisers Kala, who is a ceramics specialist, and Nancy, an artist, were equally keen to get on board.

"We wanted to showcase all the excellent craftspeople and artisan producers who are based in and around the Marple area. Anyone who is interested in taking a stall at a future event can get in touch @MakeitMarple.”

Make It Marple promises to be a great event for people to visit and browse, whether you're looking for a gift idea or just want to treat yourself.
